Jeff Alu: Surrealities

"This book is essentially a monograph, a collection of singular images. The surrealistic theme collectively ties the resulting photographs together. Each photograph is an investigation of equivalent feelings and emotion, similar in purpose as his accompanying poems."

The text is simple and clear, in white, easy to remember.

like the photo spread. like I said I am gonna use that for my book as well.

These 2 are very interesting because if the layout was white in the first image now it's black and surprisingly it goes really well. Usually, black is really demanding in photo books because you can't put any image on a black background. There is not any text which is perfect because it would have ruined everything. The images are "surrealistic" enough so that you don't need text.

Then we have got a combination of black and white. It looks so interesting. I would buy the book for the layout. Very clever and the images very good! The fact that the landscape is not spread on to the whole page makes the image stand out even if the page on the right is black.

"Alu does provide an index of photograph and captions, but includes page numbers for a book that is without pagination, perhaps a touch of surrealistic humor."

I like the book,it's engaging. There is not much text which is really good because the images are hard to digest. I like the "creativeness" of the book.I also love how  the author used black and white for the pages.
