Eugene Atget - Paris Photo Book

"Eugene Atget roamed the streets with his bulky large format camera, systematically cataloguing turn-of-the-century Old Paris down to the very smallest details. His skilled, wonderfully atmospheric photos of Paris' parks, buildings, streets, store windows, prostitutes, workers, and even door handles are a joy to behold."

I like the fact that there are 2 photos of a place and one of them is a close up, like to see better what's is going on there.

I like that the text is written in 3 different languages but I do no like the colour of the background. I don't really get why it is red. And it's not even a nice red it's like a dirty red. I don't like that and also the image itself is like attached to the red background and in my opinion I don't think they go together.

I like the fact that the images are different sizes and again I just noticed that Atget has images from head to toe but then he's got close ups as well which is quite nice. The writing looks ok but I wouldn't have done it the same. I would have probably write a very short text about all 3 images rather then a small paragraph for each image.

The back cover looks nice as well. I like the photo. I think the text should have been a bit different. I suppose white works best as colour but at least the size of the text could have been bigger because I believe the text is quite small and because the image is sort of b&w you don't notice that fast the text because it's white and you think it's part of the picture so you don't really pay attention to it.

Overall, for me the book doesn't look exciting. I wouldn't buy it if I had the chance. It's not really attractive and I don't like the colours.
