Feedback 2

So, another feedback for my website. Regarding the design, I don't know exactly what he means by that but I like it because it's simple. Plus that's just the theme. I added a Home button if that's easier. And I will try to put Photography under my name to see how it looks even if I never liked that combination.

Home buton

I tried with Madalina Loghin Photography but I don't like it at all. So I am going to leave it like that because it's not that hard to realize that this is a photographer's website.

Final words on my final products!!! part 3

So THE BOOK: Make me look pretty!

What I have done...

First of all, I made the cover. I knew from the beginning that I want one of my images to be on the cover. I chose the one that I like the most. I tried to find a place to write my name and the name of my book/project. The only place where I thought it would look good was above her right shoulder. That ray of light made my job easier. Like I said before I chose 2 fonts so that people don't get confused when looking at my cover. Also, the font of the name of the projects more elegant and I think it goes well with the photos. The other font is more like handwriting. Done the same thing to the book spine with the same fonts.
I don't need a table of contents because I don't have more projects in the book. There is only one so that's why I made that first page with the name of the book, my name with the copyright sign. Then, I added a page with "About the project". On the right I put like a collage going down with images that I didn't use. Then, on a blank page I added like a introduction to the book, used a quotes from Yves Saint Laurent that I thought suits the images.
Then, I started to use all my photos, to arrange them in page. Like I said, I used 2 photos per set with 2-3 exceptions: for 3 sets I made like a collage, using 3 images. Some of them are on the right of the page or left, others in a full page, others in a collage. I arranged them so that they look good. There is not like a story about the photos being arranged like that.It was only like it looks good on half of a page, let's leave it there. After I finished with my photos, I went back to write the page numbers and the header. It was the same with the page numbers and header. If I thought it goes well, then I would put it there.
I didn't add any text because I thought that I don't need one. There are already a lot of images, adding text would only make the book look full. I had 2 images in landscape so those one I decided to spread them over 2 pages.
I left blank pages so that you have a time to breath before looking at the next set.
At the end, I added a page with the names of all the girls that helped me with the project and I thanked all of them for all the help.

The book looks good, I am very proud of it!!!!!!

Final words on my final products!!! part 2

Some screen shots from the book:

Final words on my final products!!!

The website: www.madalinaloghin.com

It was hard to get started as I have never created or had a website before. I didn't know from where to start but I finally dared to do something... It took me about a week to create it. I had made some sketches at the beginning but of course the website doesn't look the same. I have tried my best to make it look similar and I have made it in a way. As I said before Weebly doesn't give you many options, it's not that flexible. But I have managed to do something using their tools.
The theme that I have chosen is simple but elegant as I have noticed that I am obsessed with this word. After researching on fashion photographers, they all have simple themes and menus to make the viewer's job easier when looking at the website. You don't want to spent ages to find the portfolio in the menu or until the photos load.
I wanted to have like an intro page so that's why I made my Home page the front one.I want it to be like an introduction to the website. I used 3 photos from my fashion collection let's say because I am into fashion photography and that's where I am aiming to get even if I have got other stuff as well in my gallery. Also, I have chosen Polaroids as I have realized that my new passion is Polaroids and I believe they look really nice.
I also wanted to have like an intro message so I thought about something interesting that fits with photography so LIGHTS.CAMERA.ACTION. was the best I could find, I think because it's the three things that matter the most in photography: you need lights, the camera and then you get into it.
Then, I have chosen my 5 big categories that would be my MENU: Portfolio/Personal/About/Contact. I have started with the first one as it is the most important one. I made again like an intro page for Portfolio and then I wanted to have sub menus. So when you click on Portfolio there is 4 sub menus below: Fashion/Photo Shoots/ Projects/Portraits. For the first one, FASHION, I used my new wonderful photos that I have taken for my ACPP project. Because I have got 10 sets I wanted to be separately on the page..So when you click on the first image you can only see the images from that set. If you wanna see the rest of them you have to click on one of the images from the set that you want to look at.I am very proud of those images. I believe they are my best ones.

Then, Photo shoots..I have chosen just some photos..I am not gonna upload all of them because it would  look crowded and I don't want that. I only put an example of each photo shoot for people to see what I can do.In terms of layout, I have chosen them to be cropped because they look so good like that. That sort of cropping resembles with one way you could present your fashion photos and that's why I have chosen that.

Projects..Again, the same cropping. At the beginning I din't have any text because I literally can't stand talking and writing about my projects. I don't know why but when I have to do that I feel like it's the end of the world for me. I managed in the end to write a brief description, I am fine with it and I am happy I have done it. For Portraits it's the same thing. I will add more photos there because I think I need more.

After that, I moved on to the other category, PERSONAL. This one here, is more like what I like doing in my spare time or other areas of photography that I enjoy in my spare time and that I could happily do it if asked. I wanted an intro page for Personal so I decided to put one of my images plus a short sentence to make the viewer be interested and get involved. Then, there are 3 sub categories: Grandma/DreamDay and Close-ups.

For Grandma, I decided to add a slideshow. I am happy with it except for the fact that it's quite big so you can't see the whole image without scrolling down. But I can't make it smaller and I really want that slideshow. I like how it looks with those photos. Like I said it's a pain for me to write a description so I only added the country where the photos were taken and the year. I am happy so far.

Then, DreamDay.. I must say that I love how my pictures look on the website.. they look so cool and nice and elegant. I used to work in a florist shop last summer when I was back home so I had the chance to take photos of flowers and weddings(in a way). Those are some of my best and I must say that the square cropping looks so good.
The last bit, the Close ups..again very happy with how it looks. they suit my theme perfectly. I love them.

Moving on, I had to make my About section. Guess what? I had to write again but not about my projects and my ideas...Guess what again? it was about ME and only ME this time. It couldn't be worse that that..haha.. BUT as much as I hate doing that.. everything came up so easily and I am  more than surprised. I had inspiration and I think that I wrote a good description about me and my work. I wanted to use a picture of mine that I have taken instead of using other people's pictures. I was so excited when I added the details about exhibitions and other things. Very happy with that section.

AND the last bit....Contact category... It was the easiest one..I had the form there. I only needed to write the sentence to let people know how I would like to be contacted. I chose to put my personal e-mail there for bookings only because there might be days when I don't check my website e mail and I don't want to lose clients and my personal one I check like everyday so I think that's the best way to do it!. I also added to social media icons:Facebook and Pinterest.

So..that's it then!!! As an overall impression/comment.. I am happy with what I have created. I could have been more creative but I had some restrictions let's say with Weebly but it's fine because my website is simple and straight forward and as a first try I think it's good and nice. and clear and simple!!!

I am just waiting now for comments on it and any positive and negative feedback as well!!! Quite nervous actually about that!!!!

Text on the website

I have done most of the things to my website.. I have got left to write some text..Now I am working on writing the description for my projects

Surprisingly, it was easy to write the description for my projects.

moving on...
So, apparently, I think I am done with my website.. I really don't know what else to do.. Weebly doesn't give you many options. I am quite happy with what I have got. It's simple and clear. It doesn't look like what I had in mind at the beginning but I thinks it looks good as my first try.

Text

I have uploaded my images. Now I have to write some text for the projects, about section etc. I hate this part to be honest. I never liked writing about me or my projects even if somehow it's normal and best.

It's gonna take me some time to do that..oohhh

I have done the Contact form

I have decided to put my e-mail on there for bookings because I don't want possible clients to e-mail me on my website e-mail and not get back to them. I might not check the e-mail daily. just to be sure...

Now  I have to write something About me. I don't know how to start. I am gonna go back to the photographers that I looked at for the website and look at their About me section.

UPDATE:
Most of them have their whole life story written there, how they took up photography etc, and they have exhibitions there as well, interviews, magazine features, it's like a CV.

For example, take Jeremy Cowart's biography, let's say..Oh my god! it's way too long, no one will stay 10 minutes to read everything unless they are really interested in him, it's about his life so far..but I believe it's too much.

I like Lara Jade's one. It's short and concise and I can definitely understand her style and what she wants from her photography and what she can offer to clients.

Finally made it..I wrote the ABOUT me

I don't know if it's good or not but I tried to be as honest as possible to first of all to be me.

New again

I keep changing my mind about the gallery. I wanna make it easy to look at. So now, you can look at each set of image separately.

So, I have finished with my PORTFOLIO. I will probably add more images but for now it's fine. I need to finish the other bits.

For the Grandma gallery, I have decided to make a slideshow. I am a bit concerned about the size of the slideshow though. but it looks good.

This is the DreamDay category. I have realized that I like those images so much. They look really nice! :)

next bit is the Close-ups category

Then..

I have changed my mind again.

So I thought that putting Polaroids again it quite boring so I decided to change the effect. Now..when you click on each icon you will be redirected to each page to see the rest of the photos...how exciting..!!!

and then I have changed a bit the design for Photo Shoots

Same for Portraits

Projects

then the FASHION section

Almost there

I have started to upload the images on my website..I have started with the Photo Shoots category:

Then it's the Portrait category:

I only uploaded some photos but I am aware of the fact that I need more photos.

Changing

So I have changed the menu..

there wasn't t any point in having a page identical like the first one just for the name: Home
So, now I have 4 pages with sub pages: for Portfolio I have: Fashion/Projects/Portraits/Photo Shoots and for Personal: Grandma/DreamDay/Close-ups/Holly Day

Then, my plan is: when you click on Portfolio you will see 4 icons for each category. Click on the first icon which is Fashion and you will be redirected to the Fashion page where you can see all the images.

Unfortunately, I can't add a redirecting link for all 4 icons..it's only one because basically all 4 icons form the image. So, click on portfolio and you'll see the icons above, like a small preview of the images and then if you want to see the images you'll have to click on the categories under Portfolio.

Thursday, 4 April 2013

Moving on

So I have created my HOME page now I have to created the other categories which will be:

  1. Home
  2. Portfolio
  3. Personal
  4. About
  5. Contact

how does it look?

yaaaaaaaaaay

I have selected the images and added the metadata info

Change of plans

So I have changed my mind regarding the theme. I want an intro page with my name and 2-3 photos.

and then I will have an ENTER button.

Right..I think I need something else as well so I decided to put another title above the 3 polaroids.

I don't really like the colour of the button, but I can't change it :(

NOOOW.. I need to select all my images that we'll go on the website before I go on.!!!! exciteeeed

Changed my mind again. I really don't like the colour of the button so I decided to delete it.

First step

I am excited..I have done research on websites. Now I am really curious what I can do with my website so I am starting to edit my website with Weebly..

First thing... I have to choose my theme.

It is so hard to choose a theme as there are so many choices and until I do all the settings I can't know for sure how it would look.
Hmmmm...

I am gonna choose this one.But I think I want another font. let's see:
1. Cantarell
2. Dossis ???
3. IM Fell quite nice
4. Josefin Slab
5. Architects maybe
6. Black Jack
7. Note this - not sure
8. reenie beanie neah
9. Quicksand - might give it a chance
10. Daniel: yes yes

Soooo Daniel it is then!!!

I think this is suits me best. I don't know why but I have always had like a passion for fonts that look like hand writing. Maybe it's because my hand writing is not that nice and elegant.

Alexi Lubomirski

Alexi Lubomirski

I just came across this fashion photographer, Lubomirski. I was really impressed by his website. As you can see on the image above, on the left there is his menu and when you click on each category a list of magazines or celebrities will appear on the right so you can click on each name to see the photos which I think is very very nice.

And for some of them you can even choose the year. That's very cool. The menu is simple and straight forward and I like that.

In the NEWS section, you can find his latest work which I am surprised to see that he's got something new almost everyday. Wow! He must be brilliant!!!

More Research...

11. Lisa Bettany - Nop

Right so..her website looks very cheap, unprofessional. The font is simple, nothing interesting and outstanding. On the left, her images, you can click on them and the image will appear on the right but it's quite boring..I don't know..

12. The Wade Brothers - Maybe

The website is cool. The menu is presented very nice. And then when you click on the categories, the series of images will appear on the right but what's different at this website is the fact that you have to scroll right to see the images.I like that..I have noticed that lots of fashion photographers do film as well.

13. Sarah Cheng-De Winne - Don't know

Really nice intro page. I like the background image. The  text looks good in white. I don't think I have an image that would look good as a background, I don't think I am gonna choose that. Plus all the websites use flash a lot. And I am not gonna use it so..

14. Thomas Kettner - Maybe

This website looks similar to some that I looked at. Basically, there is a menu on the left and the images on the right. The more I look for fashion photographers website the more I see the similarity.
